Miracle of the Hudson Plane Crash
Plane Collision Over the Hudson
This past weekend, a private plane and a NY tourist helicopter collided over the Hudson River. Nobody survived. As of now, divers have recovered the bodies of seven victims; this morning, they're searching for the final two.
According to CNN.com,the plane took off from a Philadelphia-area airfield Saturday
morning, landed at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport and was bound for
Ocean City, New Jersey. Controllers lost contact with the plane at 11:53 a.m. ET when it was at an altitude of about 1,100 feet, Hersman said.
The investigation into the cause will be ongoing; they are currently looking into whether or not the airways high traffic status is a factor. According to CNN.com, the [link class="cnnInlineTopic" href="http://topics.cnn.com/topics/U_S_National_Transportation_Safety_Board" link_updater_label="external" target="_blank"]NTSB
had recorded eight accidents and one "incident" involving the tour
operator, Liberty Helicopter Sightseeing Tours, Hersman said, but
Saturday's crash was the first involving fatalities.
