Hello everybody! Today I will show how to get from a conventional single-phase network 220 V - three-phase, and without special costs. But first, I will tell about my problem prior to the search for such a solution. I had a Soviet powerful table saw (2 kW) that connected to a three-phase network. My attempts to power it from a single-phase network, as is usually the case, were not possible: there was a strong power drawdown, starting capacitors were warming up, the engine was warming itself. Fortunately, in due time I spent the proper time searching for a solution on the Internet. Where I stumbled upon one video, where one guy made a kind of splitter with a powerful electric motor. Then he started around the perimeter of his garage this three-phase network and connected all the other devices requiring three-phase voltage to it. Before starting work, he came to the garage, started the dispensing engine and before he left he worked. In principle, I liked the solution. Decided to repeat and make your splitter.In the role of the engine, he took the old Soviet one with 3.5 kW of power, with the windings turned on by a star.

How does everything work? First, we apply a single-phase power supply to the distributing motor, with a start button we connect a capacitor, thereby starting it. As soon as the motor has untwisted to the necessary turns, the condenser can be switched off. Now it is possible to connect a load to the output of the phase splitter, in my case a desktop circular and several more three-phase loads.

After connecting the saw through such a device, there was a significant improvement in work, nothing warms up, power is quite enough and not only for the saw.Rumors nothing, does not buzz, as it was before. Only it is desirable to take the distributing motor more powerful than consumers by at least 1 kW, then there will not be a noticeable special power slump under heavy load. Who would not say anything about not clean sine or it will not work, I advise you not to listen. The sine voltage is clean and broken exactly at 120 degrees, as a result, the connected equipment receives high-quality voltage, which is why it does not heat up. The second half of readers who will speak in the 21st century and the large presence of three-phase frequency converters can say that my output many times cheaper, since the old motor is quite easy to find. You can even take out unsuitable for the load, with weak and almost broken bearings. My phase splitter in idle mode does not consume so much: 200 - 400 W somewhere, the power of the connected tools grows many times, compared to the usual connection scheme through starting capacitors. In conclusion, I want to justify my choice of this solution: reliability, incredible simplicity, low cost, high power.
