The #ShoutYourAbortion Flashmob Raises the Hot Topic
The Internet is gaining momentum with a flash mob under the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion (“Scream about your abortion”). It all started with one post in social networks. Writer Amelia Bonou, frustrated by the decision of the Seattle government to stop funding the family planning program, shared her thoughts on abortion under the #ShoutYourAbortion hashtag and encouraged other girls to express their opinion on this issue.
Here is what Amelia wrote on her Facebook page: “Many people believe that a good woman makes an abortion decision with sadness, shame and regrets. But I’ll tell you: I have a good heart, and it didn’t stop me from having an abortion and feeling happy. Why not just be happy because I didn’t have to become a mother? ” Soon, both supporters and opponents of abortion joined the discussion:
I've had 2 abortions. I don’t have to justify or explain them to anybody. Life.#shoutyourabortion

Women beings enter the world. They are fully as human as you are.#shoutyourabortion- Jane Caro (@JaneCaro)September 21, 2015
“Women are not just a portal through which other people enter this world. They are the same people as you. ”
Flashmob under the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion does not encourage girls to show off their decision to have an abortion, but is aimed at stopping people from being ashamed to talk about it openly.
