Effective means to remove tar from things

Stains from tar - a rarity. But if you are faced with such a nuisance, then do not rush to get rid of the thing. There are many proven ways to remove such contaminants. Find out which ones are the most effective.

Preparation

To remove stains from the resin was faster and more efficient, things need to be prepared. The structure of resinous substances is rather complicated, so it will not be possible to simply wash them.

The main stages of preparation:

  1. If the stain is convex, that is, the resin is quite a lot, then first try to remove it by mechanical means. Use a sharp object, for example, a nail file, a blade or a knife. But be extremely careful, otherwise you will damage the fabric and just ruin the thing. In addition, you only need to remove the part of the resin that rises above the material, that is, it does not enter the fibers.
  2. Next, put the product in the freezer of your refrigerator. The frozen particles can easily be separated from the fabric, and only the part of the resin that has already managed to enter the material and penetrate the fibers will remain.

After such manipulations, you can proceed to further action.

Basic cleaning

So, how to remove tar from things?

  • Use solvents like white spirit, acetone or nail polish remover. Moisten a cotton pad or a tampon in one of these formulations (a piece of waste white tissue can be used) and dab the area well with the dirt several times. Next, rinse the item in hot water. If you remove a stain from a shoe, after treatment, wipe it with a damp hot rag. And remember that solvents can spoil color or delicate material.
  • To remove resin from clothes, try using alcohol (and liquid ammonia will do). Treat the contaminated surface with a cotton pad. Repeat the procedure until the stain is completely removed, and then rinse the product in hot water.
  • An ordinary iron can help. First, on both sides, overlay the fabric with clean paper napkins or unnecessary patches of fabric (preferably white). Then iron the product, pressing hard on the iron. When the temperature rises, the resin softens and melts, and then immediately absorbed into a napkin or cloth.Repeat this ironing several times to finally get rid of the stain.
  • Effective and turpentine. Just treat them a spot several times. If the contamination does not disappear, then try alternating the treatment with turpentine using alcohol.
  • To remove the resin from the dark fabrics, you can use "Coca-Cola". Soak the product in it for half an hour, then rinse well. But on light things, this drink can leave traces of the dye. A delicate material after soaking can deteriorate.
  • Instead of "Coca-Cola" you can use other carbonated drinks, and preferably without dyes. Gas bubbles will help to partially destroy the frozen resin, which will gradually remove it.
  • If the material is not delicate, then you can use a dishwashing detergent or for different surfaces (Fairy, Domestos). First, slightly moisten the area of contamination with hot water, then apply the composition and leave the thing for an hour or two. Then wash everything and wash the clothes.
  • If you like folk remedies, then prepare a mixture of a teaspoon of starch, half a teaspoon of turpentine and 5-10 drops of ammonia.Apply the composition to the contaminated area and leave to dry completely, then remove the crust with a hard brush. But when using this method, delicate fabrics may suffer.
  • Surprisingly, vegetable oil can dissolve the resin. Apply it to the contaminated area for twenty to thirty minutes, and then remove it with soapy water (a tablespoon of laundry soap and half a cup of hot water). If the stain remains, then increase the exposure time. Oil is best for processing leather goods.
  • Use gasoline, but only high quality and refined. It also has the properties of a solvent, so it can help remove the resin. Moisten a cotton swab in this product and blot the stain. Repeat the treatment until the resin is dissolved. A significant disadvantage of this method is a sharp smell. Get rid of it will help washing with air conditioning and prolonged airing.
  • You can remove the resin with kerosene. Just treat them the area of pollution. But most likely the procedure will have to be repeated several times.
  • A small and not much stubborn spot can be tried with a conventional stain remover.

Advice

Recommendations for effective resin removal:

  1. Aggressive agents (solvents, for example) should be used carefully at home. To avoid poisoning and burns, treat them in a respirator, goggles, and gloves.
  2. Before using the tool, try it on a small section of the thing, preferably from the wrong side. Some formulations can damage the fabric or change its color.
  3. If the stain can not be removed, try using several tools, but, of course, in turn, and not together.
  4. It is advisable to start cleaning as early as possible before the resin penetrates the fibers and penetrates the fabric too much.

Choose a suitable product and start removing the stain as soon as possible to get rid of it.
